Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum

"Birth is such a beautiful miracle of life"!

Prenatal Visits

A trusting relationship is the foundation of doula care.3 x Prenatal visits are offered in-person and provide opportunities to discuss your hopes and goals and create a real connection.

"On Call " availability 24/7 starting 2 weeks before your estimated due date and until your baby is born.

If you want to labour in the comfort of your own home and avoid going to the hospital too soon, your doula's presence can be especially reassuring and helpful in determining when to go in.

What does a doula do during labour?

During labour, your doula provides hands-on comfort and progression techniques, mental and emotional encouragement, advocacy in the medical setting, breaks for your partner and much more.

Labour looks a bit like a dance. There are fast paced moments where your doula will be very hands on. There are slower moments where she will take a step back. She will never take the place of any other member of your support team. And she will fully support any decision you make.

Your doula will provide position ideas and resources. She will remind you of your plans and goals. She'll continually insure that you feel safe, heard, and respected.

Your doula will be a calming presence and a constant support. She keeps an eye on the big picture and anticipates your next need. She's always ready and always prepared.

After birth, your doula stays with you for 1-3 hours to assist with breastfeeding and recovery, encourage family bonding and remind pediatric staff of your newborn choices.

Your doula can help

capturememorable moments of the day your baby was born by taking photos to ensure your family has priceless images that can be cherished for a lifetime.

Postpartum Visits

Once you are at home, your doula will provide 1-2 postpartum visits (in-home) to process the birth, answer newborn questions, review your recovery, and discuss anything else on your mind and heart.

Doulasupport

A doula recognizes birth as a key life experience, understands the physiology of birth, and the emotional needs of a woman in labour. She assists a labouring woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for the birth. She stays by the side of the woman throughout labour providing emotional support, suggesting practical comfort measures, and providing objective information to aid in decision-making.

Recent studies indicate that when doulas are present, there are shorter, more comfortable labours, fewer medical interventions and greater satisfaction from both the woman and the partner.

My goal as a doula is to help moms to feel loved, informed, and in control...

even when circumstances may often feel otherwise.

Whether a mom has a large support system or small, whether her birth plan is going perfectly or unexpectedly, I believe that having a constant supporter by her side is valuable and essential.
